Unspecified in the provided excerpt (context likely a Purāṇic narrator describing the phalaśruti—benefit of the vow).

Concept: Hearing or reciting the vow’s account itself grants merit; divine grace (Gaurī-anugraha) elevates birth and character, culminating in celestial attainment.

Application: Regularly listen to or recite sacred texts; cultivate noble conduct and self-discipline as the ‘manly excellence’ (pauruṣa) of character rather than mere physicality.

Sandhi Resolution Notes:

FAQs

It promises elevated birth and personal excellence through Gaurī’s grace, and states that reciting or hearing this vow leads to residence in Indra’s world (Svarga).

‘Giritanayā’ means “daughter of the mountain” and refers to Pārvatī (also called Gaurī).

Both: the verse explicitly states that either reciting (paṭhati) or hearing (śṛṇoti) the account of this vow yields the stated merit.
