Sūta

Concept: When the mind is steady (windless), the lamp of awakened insight dispels the darkness of ignorance completely.

Application: Reduce ‘wind’: limit sensory overstimulation, keep a fixed meditation seat/time, and pair study with nāma-japa; treat distractions as gusts and return to the flame (one-pointed attention).

Primary Rasa: adbhuta

Secondary Rasa: shanta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A single oil lamp burns unwavering inside a sheltered niche, its flame tall and steady, casting a widening circle of light that pushes back thick darkness. In the glow, a meditating figure’s silhouette becomes clear, suggesting that steadiness itself is illumination.","primary_figures":["Sūta (as narrator)","symbolic meditating yogin"],"setting":"stone alcove or hermitage room with a protected lamp; darkness receding like a veil","lighting_mood":"divine radiance","color_palette":["deep umber","lamp amber","smokeless gold","midnight blue","ivory highlight"],"tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting style: central brass dīpa with exaggerated steady flame, gold leaf radiance spreading in concentric halos, darkness rendered as rich indigo panels, a small yogin figure in meditation at the edge of the light, ornate border with lotus and chakra motifs, jewel-like highlights on the lamp base.","pahari_prompt":"Pahari miniature style: intimate interior with a niche lamp, delicate gradations of shadow, the flame painted with fine saffron strokes, a calm yogin seated on a mat, cool blue-black night outside a small window, lyrical stillness and precise linework.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural style: stylized lamp with bold outlines, flame as a teardrop of yellow and red, darkness as flat indigo fields, meditating figure simplified and iconic, temple-wall symmetry with decorative bands.","pichwai_prompt":"Pichwai cloth painting style: large central lamp motif surrounded by lotus petals like a mandala, deep blue cloth background, gold and white highlights, small peacocks at the border corners, floral creepers framing the ‘light dispelling darkness’ theme."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"meditative","suggested_raga":"Durga","pace":"slow-meditative","voice_tone":"serene","sound_elements":["soft conch in distance","lamp crackle","silence","gentle tanpura drone"]}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: प्रज्वलन्नाशयेत्सर्वमंधकारं → प्रज्वलन् + आशयेत् + सर्वम् + अन्धकारम्; महामते = महामति (voc.).

FAQs

A steady lamp in a windless place symbolizes stable awareness or disciplined focus; its light represents knowledge that removes the darkness of ignorance.

It emphasizes inner steadiness—free from disturbance—so that insight can “shine” continuously and eliminate confusion, doubt, and ignorance.

Maintain stability and avoid destabilizing influences; when one’s conduct and mind are steady, clarity arises and harmful darkness—error, delusion, and negativity—is dispelled.
