Unspecified (narrative voice within Bhūmi-khaṇḍa; commonly framed in the wider Padma Purāṇa dialogue tradition)

Concept: Bhakti ripens into ‘prema’ when one abandons doṣas of body, mind, and speech, and worships Vāsudeva as the universal refuge and Lakṣmī’s abode.

Application: Practice tri-karaṇa-śuddhi: clean habits (body), honest and kind speech (vāk), and steady remembrance without envy or pride (citta); let devotion be affectionate, not merely dutiful.

Primary Rasa: shringara

Secondary Rasa: shanta

FAQs

It defines devotees as those absorbed in prema (loving devotion) who respond by wholehearted worship of Vāsudeva, presenting love-centered worship as the culmination of inner purification.

The verse urges renouncing doṣas (faults) arising from body, mind, and speech—suggesting a threefold discipline of conduct, intention, and expression as the basis for genuine devotion.

“Lakṣmī-nivāsa” indicates the Lord as the eternal abode/consort of Lakṣmī (prosperity and grace), while “jagatāṃ nivāsa” presents him as the ultimate refuge and sustaining ground of all worlds.
