FAQs

The verse foregrounds a cluster of virtues—good conduct (guṇa-śīla), devotion (bhakti), truthfulness (satya), and the ideal of pati-daivatyam (revering one’s husband as a divine focus of duty).

It frames devotion (bhakti) as a lived ethical quality expressed through fidelity, sincerity, and steadfast relationship-based duty, rather than as mere ritual or doctrine.

The ethical teaching is that enduring love and esteem are grounded in character—truthfulness, devotion, and consistent virtuous conduct—presented here through the traditional ideal of marital fidelity.
