अथ सख्यः समायाताः पप्रच्छुः सुकलां तदा । सुकले चारुसर्वांगि कस्माद्रोदिषि संप्रति

atha sakhyaḥ samāyātāḥ papracchuḥ sukalāṃ tadā | sukale cārusarvāṃgi kasmādrodiṣi saṃprati

แล้วสหายหญิงทั้งหลายก็พากันมาพบ และถามนางสุกลาในกาลนั้นว่า “โอ้สุกลา ผู้มีสรรพางค์งดงาม เหตุใดเจ้าจึงร่ำไห้อยู่บัดนี้?”
