FAQs

This verse functions as a Puranic catalogue of notable persons (names and epithets), preserving sacred memory (smaraṇa) and lineage-style continuity—an important Purana method for anchoring dharma and tradition through remembered exemplars.

The verse does not directly teach bhakti practices; it supports bhakti indirectly through nāma-smaraṇa (recollection of revered names) and Purana narration, which are traditional supports for devotional listening (śravaṇa) and remembrance (smaraṇa).

The practical emphasis is lexical/onomastic clarity—useful for Vyākaraṇa (correct forms of names) and Nirukta-style attention to epithets (e.g., descriptive compounds like citritāmbara-bhūṣaṇā).
