The Account of Hanumān
unnamayya mukhi tasyā idamāha trilocanaḥ | tvadarthaṃ devadeveśi aparādhaḥ kṛto mayā || 185 ||
Trilocana (Shiva)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: karuna
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
The verse highlights the dharmic principle that even the greatest beings acknowledge fault; admitting aparādha and seeking reconciliation is itself a mark of spiritual maturity and humility.
Bhakti is strengthened by humility and accountability—here the Lord’s confession models the devotee’s inner attitude of surrender, remorse for wrongdoing, and readiness to restore harmony.
It implicitly points to Dharma-śāstra practice: recognizing aparādha and moving toward prayāścitta (atonement) and restored conduct, a practical application often discussed alongside ritual discipline.
