श्रीब्रह्मोवाच । अथातः संप्रवक्ष्यामि तवाग्नेयपुराणकम् । ईशानकल्पवृत्तांतं वसिष्ठायानलोऽब्रवीत् ॥ १ ॥

พระศรีพรหมาตรัสว่า—บัดนี้เราจักอธิบาย “อัคนేయปุราณะ” อย่างแจ่มชัด; คือเรื่องราวในอีศานกัลปะ ที่พระอัคนีได้กล่าวแก่ฤๅษีวสิษฐะ.
