ในภาคต้นนั้น ศักติชะได้จัดวางไว้เป็นหกส่วน และ ณ ที่นั้นเอง ท่านได้กล่าวบทนำ (อวตาริกา) แห่งปุราณะนี้แก่ไมเตรยะด้วย
