Sūta (narrating the Purāṇic account in an anukramaṇikā-style summary)
Vrata: none
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: bhakti
It frames the upcoming Sūrya-vaṃśa narration as a purifying act: hearing or reciting the lineage of the world-lord Sūrya is declared inherently puṇya and capable of destroying even grave sins.
By presenting vaṃśānukīrtana (devotional recounting) as spiritually efficacious, it aligns with Bhakti’s principle that sincere kīrtana/śravaṇa of sacred histories purifies the heart and removes pāpa.
It implicitly emphasizes Itihāsa–Purāṇa-style anukramaṇikā method—structured genealogical narration (vaṃśa) used for preserving dharma-history and traditional chronology, rather than a specific Vedāṅga ritual detail.
