It marks a formal transition from the Pūrvabhāga to the later portion, emphasizing that Purāṇic teaching is transmitted in an ordered, listen-and-receive lineage (śravaṇa), where structure itself supports comprehension and practice.
By highlighting “hearing” (śṛṇvataḥ) as the next step, it implicitly affirms śravaṇa as a primary bhakti-aṅga—devotion begins and deepens through attentive listening to sacred narration.
The verse reflects anukramaṇikā-style organization—practical textual methodology: how a scripture is segmented and titled for study, recitation, and teaching (a scholastic aid allied to Vyākaraṇa/Nirukta-driven clarity of terms and headings).
