Adhyaya 27Madālasa’s Instruction to King Alarka: Royal Ethics, Self-Conquest, and Statecraft

पूर्णेन्दुमालोक्य यथा प्रीतिमान् जायते नरः ।

एवं यत्र प्रजाः सर्वा निर्वत्ता स्तच्छशिव्रतम् ॥

pūrṇendum ālokya yathā prītimān jāyate naraḥ | evaṃ yatra prajāḥ sarvā nirvattās tac chaśi-vratam ||

ดุจมนุษย์ย่อมยินดีเมื่อได้เห็นพระจันทร์เต็มดวง ฉันใด ภาวะอันประเสริฐคือเมื่อไพร่ฟ้าทั้งปวงพอใจและตั้งมั่นผาสุก—นั่นแลคือ ‘โสมวรต’ คือปณิธานแห่งราชธรรมอันดุจจันทร์
