तत्र नाहं तथा मन्ये यथायमितरो जन:
tatra nāhaṃ tathā manye yathāyam itaro janaḥ
ที่นั่น ข้าพเจ้าไม่เห็นว่าเป็นดังที่ชายสามัญผู้นี้คาดคิด ความเข้าใจของเขา—ในทัศนะของข้าพเจ้า—มิใช่มาตรวัดแห่งสภาพความจริง
वैशम्पायन उवाच
One should not accept a common or superficial opinion as decisive; careful discernment is required, and the speaker signals a more accurate understanding than that of an ordinary observer.
Vaiśampāyana, as narrator, interjects a corrective judgment: he rejects the view attributed to an ‘ordinary person’ and indicates that the situation should be understood differently than common assumption.
