satyavān uvāca—kāmaye darśanaṃ pitror yāhi sāvitrī mā ciram (api nāma gurū tau hi paśyeyaṃ prīyamāṇakau).

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights filial reverence and the ethical weight of seeking one’s elders’ well-being—Satyavān’s wish is not merely to meet his parents, but to see them ‘prīyamāṇa’ (content), reflecting dharma grounded in gratitude and care for family.

Within Mārkaṇḍeya’s narration of the Sāvitrī–Satyavān episode, Satyavān urges Sāvitrī to accompany him quickly so he may have darśana of his parents, hoping to find the revered couple pleased and safe.
