Kubera’s Fivefold Nīti and Protection of the Pāṇḍavas (वैश्रवणोपदेशः)

The verse primarily sets atmosphere rather than issuing a direct injunction: it uses precise natural imagery to frame human action, suggesting that dharma is lived within an ordered world where attention, restraint, and awareness of one’s surroundings support right conduct.
The narrator (Vaiśampāyana) describes a location in the forest, specifying that events occur near śāddhala trees distinguished by green and reddish-golden coloration, thereby situating the listener in the scene before the next action unfolds.
