Nara-Nārāyaṇa Precedent and Bhīṣma’s Counsel on Kṛṣṇa–Arjuna; Karṇa’s Reply

teṣāṁ manaś ca tejaś ca apādadan iva ojasā | pūrvadevā vyatikrāntau nara-nārāyaṇāv ṛṣī ||

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical supremacy of spiritual discipline: true authority can arise from tapas and inner radiance (tejas/ojas), which naturally subdues arrogance and redirects attention from worldly power to dharma.

Two revered, ancient divine sages—Nara and Nārāyaṇa—appear and pass through the gathering. Their radiance and spiritual force are so overwhelming that it feels as if the minds and splendor of everyone present are momentarily taken away.
