शैक्येन नागांस्तरसा विगृह्नन् यदा छेत्ता धार्तराष्ट्रस्य सैन्यम् छिन्दन् वन॑ परशुनेव शूर- स्तदा युद्ध धार्तराष्ट्रोडन्वतप्स्यत्
sañjaya uvāca | śaikyena nāgāṁs tarasā vigṛhṇan yadā chettā dhārtarāṣṭrasya sainyaṁ chindan vanaṁ paraśuneva śūraḥ | tadā yuddhe dhārtarāṣṭro ’nvatapsyat ||
สัญชัยกล่าวว่า “เมื่อวีรบุรุษผู้เป็น ‘ผู้ฟันขาด’ คือภีม จับนักรบผู้ยิ่งใหญ่ประหนึ่งคล้องอสรพิษใหญ่ด้วยบ่วงแล้วลากไปด้วยแรงอันต้านทานมิได้ และเริ่มผ่าทำลายกองทัพของธฤตราษฏระ—ดุจคนตัดไม้โค่นพงไพรด้วยขวาน—เมื่อนั้นท่ามกลางศึกเอง บุตรแห่งธฤตราษฏระ (ทุรโยธน์) จักร้อนรุ่มด้วยความสำนึกผิดในใจ รู้ว่าการก่อสงครามคือความผิดพลาดอันใหญ่หลวง”
