माधवी-प्रदानम् (Mādhavī Offered to Gālava) — Udyoga Parva 113

सो<5यं शोकेन महता तप्यमानो द्विजर्षभ: । अशक्तः प्रतिकर्तु तद्‌ भवन्तं शरणं गत:,“अत: ये द्विजश्रेष्ठ गालव महान्‌ शोकसे संतप्त हो गुरुदक्षिणा चुकानेमें असमर्थ हो गये हैं और इसीलिये आपकी शरणमें आये हैं

so ’yaṁ śokena mahatā tapyamāno dvijarṣabhaḥ | aśaktaḥ pratikartuṁ tad bhavantaṁ śaraṇaṁ gataḥ ||

พราหมณ์ผู้ประเสริฐนั้น ถูกความโศกใหญ่เผาผลาญ ไม่อาจกระทำหน้าที่นั้นให้สำเร็จได้ จึงมาขอพึ่งพิงในความคุ้มครองของท่าน
