इसके बाद राजा दुर्योधनने रणभूमिमें सात सौ रथियोंको वहाँ भेजा, जहाँ धर्मपुत्र युधिष्ठिर खड़े थे ।। ते रथा रथिभिय्युक्ता मनोमारुतरंहस: । अभ्यद्रवन्त संग्रामे कौन्तेयस्य रथं प्रति,रथियोंसे युक्त और मन तथा वायुके समान वेगशाली वे रथ रणभूमिमें कुन्तीपुत्र युधिष्ठिरके रथकी ओर दौड़े
tataḥ sa rājā duryodhanaḥ raṇabhūmau saptaśatān rathināṁs tatra preṣayām āsa yatra dharmaputro yudhiṣṭhiraḥ sthitaḥ | te rathā rathibhir yuktā manomārutaraṁhasaḥ | abhyadravanta saṅgrāme kaunteyasya rathaṁ prati ||
