शल्यपर्वणि प्रथमाध्यायः — Karṇa-vadha-anantaraṃ Śalya-niyogaḥ, Saṃjayasya Dhṛtarāṣṭra-nivedanam

दुर्योधन वै पुरत: कृत्वा वैरं च भारत । “भरतश्रेष्ठ) भरतनन्दन! कालने दुर्योधन और उसके वैरको आगे करके सम्पूर्ण जगत््‌को नष्ट कर दिया'

duryodhanaṃ vai purataḥ kṛtvā vairaṃ ca bhārata |

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—“โอ ภารตะ! กาลได้ยกทุรโยธนะขึ้นไว้เบื้องหน้า พร้อมทั้งความพยาบาทเป็นธงนำ แล้วก่อให้เกิดความพินาศแก่โลกทั้งปวง”
