तदुत्तमेषून्मथितं विषाग्निना प्रदीप्तमर्चिष्मदथो क्षितौ प्रियम्‌ । पपात पार्थस्य किरीटमुत्तमं दिवाकरो<स्तादिव रक्तमण्डल:

tad uttameṣu unmathitaṁ viṣāgninā pradīptam arciṣmad atho kṣitau priyam | papāta pārthasya kirīṭam uttamaṁ divākaro 'stād iva raktamaṇḍalaḥ ||

สัญชัยกล่าวว่า—บัดนั้น มงกุฎอันเป็นที่รักและประเสริฐของอรชุน ซึ่งถูกศรอันยอดยิ่งนั้นสั่นสะเทือนจนหลุด และลุกโพลงดุจถูกจุดด้วยไฟพิษ เปล่งประกายด้วยเปลวเพลิง ก็ตกลงสู่พื้นปฐพีด้วยเสียงกึกก้อง ประหนึ่งดวงอาทิตย์กลมแดงลับลง ณ ขอบฟ้าทิศตะวันตก
