भगवती लक्ष्मीकी गौओंसे आश्रयके लिये प्रार्थना श्रीस्वाच किमेतद् व: क्षमं गावो यन्मां नेहाभिनन्दथ । नमां सम्प्रति गृह्नीध्वं कस्माद् वै दुर्लभां सतीम्,लक्ष्मीजीने कहा--गौओ! यह क्या बात है? क्या यही तुम्हारे लिये उचित है कि तुम मेरा अभिनन्दन नहीं करती? मैं सती-साध्वी हूँ, दुर्लभ हूँ। फिर भी इस समय तुम मुझे स्वीकार क्यों नहीं करती?
śrīr uvāca—kim etad vaḥ kṣamaṃ gāvo yan māṃ nehābhinandatha | na māṃ samprati gṛhṇīdhvaṃ kasmād vai durlabhāṃ satīm ||
พระศรี (ลักษมี) ตรัสว่า “เหล่าโคเอ๋ย ไฉนจึงเป็นเช่นนี้เล่า? ที่นี่พวกท่านไม่ต้อนรับและไม่ถวายความเคารพแก่เรา—สมควรแล้วหรือ? เราเป็นผู้บริสุทธิ์ทรงมงคล และเป็นสิ่งที่ได้มายาก แล้วเหตุใดบัดนี้พวกท่านจึงไม่รับเราไว้?”
