Praise of Ācāra as the Basis of Longevity, Fame, and Prosperity

pratidinaṃ sabere aura śāmako hī ekāgracitta hokara bhojana kare | bīcameṃ kucha bhī khānā ucita nahīṃ hai | jisa bhojanameṃ bāla paṛa gayā ho, use na khāya tathā śatruke śrāddhameṃ kabhī anna na grahaṇa kare |

Educational Q&A

The verse teaches disciplined and mindful eating (fixed times, focused mind), ritual and bodily purity (rejecting contaminated food), and ethical boundaries in social-ritual exchange (not accepting śrāddha food from an enemy).

In the Anuśāsana Parva, Bhishma continues instructing Yudhiṣṭhira on dharma and proper conduct; here he gives practical rules concerning daily meals and what kinds of food should be refused.
