Educational Q&A

The verse underscores the vastness and allure of merit-born heavenly realms—depicted as sorrowless and overflowing with sweetness and radiance—while implicitly reminding that such enjoyments are still within the domain of finite experience and expectation; they are rewards that ‘await’ the king, tied to his deeds and status.

Yayāti addresses a king, praising the multitude of worlds destined for him. He describes these realms as endless in extent, nectar-flowing and radiant, entirely free from grief, and ready to receive the king—an exhortation that elevates the king’s standing and frames his future reward in cosmic terms.
