Educational Q&A

The verse highlights śaraṇāgati (seeking refuge): when ordinary supports fail, the vulnerable appeal to a capable protector. Ethically, it underscores compassion and the duty to protect those who are helpless—especially children.

A speaker named Sāriyukka addresses Agni, calling him Dhūmaketu, and pleads for protection. The speakers describe themselves as young and defenseless—mother gone, father unknown, wings not yet grown—so they ask Agni as their only refuge to save them.
