Śārṅgakānāṃ Avināśaḥ (Why the Śārṅga Birds Were Spared) | शार्ङ्गकानामविनाशः
अभिश्च मन्युमांश्नैव ततस्तमरिमर्दनम् । अभिमन्युमिति प्राहुरार्जुनिं पुरुषर्षभम्,वह अभि ([निर्भय) एवं मन्युमान् (क्रुद्ध होकर लड़नेवाला) था, इसीलिये पुरुषोतम अर्जुनकुमारको 'अभिमन्यु' कहते हैं
abhīś ca manyumānś caiva tatas tam arimardanam | abhimanyum iti prāhur ārjunim puruṣarṣabham ||
เพราะเขาเป็นทั้ง ‘อภิ’ คือผู้ไม่ครั่นคร้าม และ ‘มันยุวาน’ คือผู้รบด้วยเดชโทสะ จึงเรียกโอรสของอรชุน ผู้ขยี้ศัตรู ยอดบุรุษนั้นว่า ‘อภิมันยุ’
