खाण्डवदाहे देवविमुखता तथा मयदानवाभयदानम् | Khāṇḍava Burning: Devas Withdraw; Maya Granted Protection

प्रदक्षिणं गिरे: कृत्वा प्रययौ द्वारकां प्रति । तामभिद्रुत्य कौन्तेय: प्रसह्मारोपयद्‌ रथम्‌ । सुभद्रां चारुसर्वार्ज्ीं कामबाणप्रपीडित:,उधर सुभद्रा गिरिराज रैवतक तथा सब देवताओंकी पूजा करके ब्राह्मणोंसे स्वस्तिवाचन कराकर पर्वतकी परिक्रमा पूरी करके द्वारकाकी ओर लौट रही थी। अर्जुन कामदेवके बाणोंसे अत्यन्त पीड़ित हो रहे थे। उन्होंने दौड़कर सर्वांगसुन्दरी सुभद्राको बलपूर्वक रथपर बिठा लिया

pradakṣiṇaṃ gireḥ kṛtvā prayayau dvārakāṃ prati | tām abhidrutyā kaunteyaḥ prasahm āropayad ratham | subhadrāṃ cāru-sarvāṅgīṃ kāma-bāṇa-prapīḍitaḥ ||

ครั้นเวียนประทักษิณภูเขาแล้ว นางมุ่งสู่ทวารกา. ขณะนั้นกุนตีบุตร (อรชุน) ผู้ถูกศรแห่งกามเผาผลาญ ได้พุ่งเข้าหาและยกสุภัทราผู้เพรียวพร้อมงดงามขึ้นสู่รถศึกโดยพลัน แม้เป็นการฝืนก็ตาม.
