Adhyāya 196: Droṇa’s Conciliatory Counsel and Karṇa’s Suspicion of Counsel (मन्त्र-नय-विवादः)

तां चैवाग्रयां स्त्रियमतिरूपयुक्तां दिव्यां साक्षात्‌ सोमवल्निप्रकाशाम्‌ योग्यां तेषां रूपतेजोयशोभि: पत्नीं मत्वा हृष्टवान्‌ पार्थिवेन्द्र:,उन राजराजेश्वरने अपनी पुत्रीको भी सर्वश्रेष्ठ सुन्दरी, अत्यन्त रूपवती और साक्षात्‌ चन्द्रमा तथा अग्निके समान प्रकाशित होनेवाली दिव्य नारीके रूपमें देखा। साथ ही यह मान लिया कि द्रौपदी रूप, तेज और यशकी दृष्टिसे अवश्य उन पाण्डवोंकी पत्नी होनेयोग्य है। इससे उन्हें महान्‌ हर्ष हुआ

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า พระราชาทอดพระเนตรพระธิดาเป็นสตรีผู้เลิศยิ่ง งามล้ำเป็นทิพย์ และส่องประกายประหนึ่งรัศมีแห่งจันทราและเพลิง ครั้นทรงดำริว่า ด้วยรูปโฉม รัศมี และเกียรติยศ นางย่อมเหมาะสมจะเป็นชายาของเหล่าปาณฑพ พระผู้เป็นเจ้าแห่งแผ่นดินก็ทรงเปี่ยมด้วยความยินดีใหญ่หลวง
