Adhyāya 196: Droṇa’s Conciliatory Counsel and Karṇa’s Suspicion of Counsel (मन्त्र-नय-विवादः)
तमब्रवीदुग्रवर्चा: प्रहस्य नैवंशीला: शेषमिहाप्नुवन्ति । एते<प्येवं भवितार: पुरस्तात् तस्मादेतां दरीमाविश्य शेष्व,तब भयंकर तेजवाले रुद्रने हँसकर कहा--*तुम्हारे-जैसे शील-स्वभाववाले लोगोंको यहाँ प्रसादकी प्राप्ति नहीं होती। ये लोग भी पहले तुम्हारेही-जैसे थे, अतः तुम भी इस कन्दरामें घुसकर शयन करो
tam abravīd ugravarcāḥ prahasya naivaṁśīlāḥ śeṣam ihāpnuvanti | ete 'py evaṁ bhavitāraḥ purastāt tasmād etāṁ darīm āviśya śeṣva ||
แล้วผู้มีรัศมีอันน่าเกรงขามก็หัวเราะและกล่าวว่า “ผู้มีอุปนิสัยอ่อนโยนเช่นพวกเจ้า ย่อมมิได้บรรลุพรที่เหลืออยู่ ณ ที่นี้ คนเหล่านี้ก็เคยเป็นเช่นพวกเจ้าในกาลก่อน เพราะฉะนั้นจงเข้าไปในถ้ำนี้แล้วเอนกายนอนเสียเถิด”
