Aurva Episode: Restoration of Sight and Restraint of World-Destructive Anger
पुरास्त्रमिदमाग्नेयं प्रादात् किल बृहस्पति: । भरद्वाजाय गन्धर्व गुरुर्मान्य: शतक्रतो:,गन्धर्व! यह आग्नेय अस्त्र पूर्वकालमें इन्द्रके माननीय गुरु बृहस्पतिजीने भरद्वाज मुनिको दिया था
purāstram idam āgneyam prādāt kila bṛhaspatiḥ | bharadvājāya gandharva gurur mānyaḥ śatakratoḥ ||
อรชุนกล่าวว่า “โอ้คันธรรพะ อาวุธอัคนียะโบราณนี้ ครั้งหนึ่งพรหสปติ—อาจารย์ผู้เป็นที่เคารพของศตกรตุ (อินทรา)—ได้ประทานแก่ฤๅษีภรทวาช”
अर्जुन उवाच
Powerful knowledge—especially destructive weaponry—derives legitimacy from a disciplined, respected lineage (guru to worthy recipient). The verse implies ethical restraint: such forces should be acquired and deployed only under proper authority and responsibility.
Arjuna identifies the Agneya Astra and explains its provenance: it was traditionally bestowed by Bṛhaspati, Indra’s revered teacher, to the sage Bharadvāja. He addresses a Gandharva, using the weapon’s pedigree to establish its authenticity and sanctity.
