तमद्रिकूटसदृशं विनिकीर्ण भयानकम् | दृष्टवा संहृष्टरोमाणो बभूवुस्तत्र नागरा:,पर्ववशिखरके समान भयानक उस राक्षसको नगरके दरवाजेपर फेंका हुआ देखकर नगरनिवासी मनुष्योंके शरीरमें रोमांच हो आया
tam adrikūṭasadṛśaṁ vinikīrṇa-bhayānakam | dṛṣṭvā saṁhṛṣṭaromāṇo babhūvus tatra nāgarāḥ ||
ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—เมื่อชาวเมืองเห็นอสูรอันน่าสะพรึงนั้น ซึ่งใหญ่ดุจยอดเขา ถูกทิ้งนอนคว่ำอยู่ ณ ประตูนคร ก็พากันขนลุกซู่ สะท้านด้วยความหวาดกลัวต่อภาพอันน่ากลัวนั้น
