Vyāsa’s Counsel to the Concealed Pāṇḍavas; Śaṃkara’s Boon and the Predestination of Draupadī

Chapter 157

Vaiśampāyana said: Thus, while those great-souled men were living in that kingdom, a very long time passed, O best of the Bharatas, crest-jewel of the Bharata lineage. (The narrative underscores the quiet endurance of the Pāṇḍavas in exile, where steadfastness and restraint become their ethical strength.)

Educational Q&A

The verse highlights the ethical value of patient endurance: even for great souls, dharma is often sustained through long periods of quiet living, restraint, and perseverance as time unfolds.

Vaiśampāyana notes that while the Pāṇḍavas were residing in a certain kingdom, a long span of time elapsed; the narrator addresses the listener with honorific epithets of the Bharata lineage.
