पाण्डोः श्राद्धं, सत्यवत्याः वनगमनम्, बाल्यस्पर्धा च

Pāṇḍu’s Śrāddha, Satyavatī’s Withdrawal, and Childhood Rivalry

वासांसि च महाहणि स्त्रीणामाभरणानि च । प्रदाय सर्व विप्रेभ्य: पाण्डु: पुनरभाषत,वैशम्पायनजी कहते हैं--जनमेजय! कुरुकुलको आनन्दित करनेवाले राजा पाण्डुने अपनी दोनों पत्नियोंसे यों कहकर अपने सिरपेंच, निष्क (वक्ष:स्थलके आभूषण), बाजूबंद, कुण्डल और बहुमूल्य वस्त्र तथा माद्री और कुन्तीके भी शरीरके गहने उतारकर सब ब्राह्मणोंको दे दिये। फिर सेवकोंसे इस प्रकार कहा--

Vaiśampāyana uvāca |

vāsāṃsi ca mahāhaṇi strīṇām ābharaṇāni ca |

pradāya sarvaṃ viprebhyaḥ pāṇḍuḥ punar abhāṣata ||

ไวศัมปายนะกล่าวว่า—เมื่อพระราชาปาณฑุได้ถวายอาภรณ์และเครื่องประดับอันล้ำค่า ตลอดจนเครื่องประดับของสตรีทั้งหลายแก่พราหมณ์ทั้งปวงโดยสิ้นเชิงแล้ว พระองค์จึงตรัสขึ้นอีกครั้ง
