Steadfast resolve in dharma invites a corresponding, supportive response: when a leader of the household embraces disciplined renunciation (vanavāsa) with self-control (dhṛtātman), those bound by duty and affection respond in harmony, speaking and acting in ways that uphold the shared ethical path.
The narrator reports that after hearing their husband’s determined decision to live in the forest, Kuntī and Mādrī answer him together. Their reply is described as ‘matching’ his words—indicating agreement, support, and an appropriate, dignified response to his resolve.
