Ādi Parva, Adhyāya 115 — Mādri’s request; invocation of the Aśvins; birth and naming of the Pāṇḍavas

तां स मांसमयीं पेशीं ददर्श जपतां वर: । ततोअ<ब्रवीत्‌ सौबलेयीं किमिदं ते चिकीर्षितम्‌,जप करनेवालोंमें श्रेष्ठ व्यासजीने उस मांसपिण्डको देखा और गान्धारीसे पूछा--“तुम इसका क्या करना चाहती थीं?”

tāṃ sa māṃsamayīṃ peśīṃ dadarśa japatāṃ varaḥ | tato 'bravīt saubaleyīṃ kim idaṃ te cikīrṣitam ||

พระวยาส ผู้เลิศในหมู่ผู้สาธยายมนตร์ เห็นก้อนเนื้อนั้นแล้ว จึงตรัสแก่คันธารี ธิดาแห่งสุบาละว่า “เจ้าคิดจะทำสิ่งใดกับนี่?”
