A sacred place does not sanctify an unethical act: hiding in an āśrama cannot transform theft into dharma. The ruler’s agents must investigate and recover what is wrongfully taken, reflecting the king’s obligation to protect social order and property.
The king’s officers search the hermitage and successfully locate both the thieves who were concealed there and the stolen property, bringing the concealed wrongdoing into the open.
