एवं शशाप भगवान्‌ वसूंस्तान्‌ भरतर्षभ । वशं क्रोधस्य सम्प्राप्त आपवो मुनिसत्तम:,भरतर्षभ! इस प्रकार मुनिवर भगवान्‌ वसिष्ठने क्रोधके आवेशमें आकर उन वसुओंको शाप दिया

evaṁ śaśāpa bhagavān vasūṁs tān bharatarṣabha | vaśaṁ krodhasya samprāpta āpo vo munisattamaḥ ||

โอ้ผู้ประเสริฐในวงศ์ภารตะ! ดังนี้แล พระวสิษฐ์ผู้เป็นมหามุนี เมื่ออยู่ใต้อำนาจแห่งโทสะ ก็ได้สาปเหล่าวสุเหล่านั้น
