FAQs

It prescribes bhūmi-śodhana—purifying the worship area—so the Linga-pūjā is performed in a sāttvika, consecrated space suitable for invoking Pati (Śiva) and removing ritual obstacles.

By emphasizing purity of the ritual field, it implies Śiva as Pati—supremely pure and liberating—approached through ordered discipline; purification supports the pashu’s movement from pasha (impurity/bondage) toward Śiva’s grace.

A practical pūjā-vidhi step: cleansing and consecrating the ground by scraping/leveling, smearing, sweeping, allowing cows to sanctify the area, and sprinkling water—preliminaries that stabilize the mind and environment for worship.
