Sūta (narrator) conveying the Kurma Purana’s śrāddha injunctions in the sages’ assembly
Primary Rasa: shanta
Secondary Rasa: vira
It does not directly define Ātman; it supports the dharmic foundation—sense-restraint (brahmacarya) and niyama—considered necessary for purity of mind, which in later teachings enables clearer realization of the Self.
The verse highlights brahmacarya and niyama (disciplined restraint). In Yoga-śāstra terms, these are foundational ethical observances that stabilize the mind and sanctify ritual action, aligning conduct with spiritual practice.
It does not explicitly mention Śiva or Viṣṇu; its emphasis on disciplined dharma reflects the Kurma Purana’s integrative approach where correct conduct and inner restraint underpin both Śaiva and Vaiṣṇava modes of worship.
