इति श्रीकूर्मपुराणे षट्साहस्त्र्यां संहितायामुपरिविभागे चतुर्दशो ऽध्यायः व्यास उवाच वेदं वेदौ तथा वेदान् वेदान् वा चतुरो द्विजाः / अधीत्य चाधिगम्यार्थं ततः स्नायाद् द्विजोत्तमः

ดังนี้ ในศรีกูรมปุราณะ สังหิตาหกพันโศลก ส่วนปลาย บทที่สิบสี่สิ้นสุดลง วยาสกล่าวว่า—เมื่อทวิชผู้ประเสริฐศึกษาเวทหนึ่งหรือสอง หรือแม้ทั้งสี่เวท และเข้าใจความหมายแล้ว พึงทำสฺนานชำระ (สมาวรรตนะ) ต่อจากนั้น
