FAQs

This verse does not directly define Ātman; it establishes an authoritative teaching lineage, implying that the forthcoming doctrine about the Supreme (often framed in Kurma Purana as Ishvara-centered, yoga-informed dharma) is trustworthy and traditionally transmitted.

No specific practice is stated in this line; it functions as a preface that introduces a transmitted instruction. In the Kurma Purana’s broader purport, such framing typically precedes teachings on disciplined conduct (dharma) and yoga-oriented devotion/meditation aligned with Pāśupata and Ishvara-centered paths.

The verse itself is neutral and focuses on narration. In Kurma Purana style, this kind of lineage-introduction often precedes teachings where Shiva-Vishnu unity and Ishvara-centric synthesis are presented as a coherent dharmic message.
