FAQs

Indirectly: it contrasts outer ritual structures (yajña-hall and yūpas) with the deeper authority of Īśvara’s order—implying that the Supreme is not bound by ritual form, and that dharma without inner alignment can be overturned.

No specific technique is taught in this verse; its practical teaching is preparatory—purifying intent. In the Kurma Purana’s Shaiva-Pāśupata frame, inner discipline (niyama, devotion to Īśvara, self-restraint) must govern yajña; otherwise ritual becomes hollow and vulnerable to downfall.

By presenting Śiva’s gaṇas as enforcers of cosmic and ethical order, the text supports the Purana’s broader synthesis: divine authority is one, and sectarian ritual pride is corrected so devotion and dharma align with the Supreme (whether named Śiva or Viṣṇu).
