The Murder of Satrājit and the Recovery of the Syamantaka Jewel
ahaṁ vaideham icchāmi draṣṭuṁ priyatamaṁ mama ity uktvā mithilāṁ rājan viveśa yada-nandanaḥ
Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma had finally caught up with Śatadhanvā on the outskirts of Mithilā. Since the king of this city was a dear friend of Balarāma’s, the Lord decided to enter the city and spend some time there.
In this verse, Kṛṣṇa expresses a desire to see “Vaideha,” and after saying so He enters Mithilā, indicating His purposeful visit to the Videha/Mithilā region as part of His ongoing līlā in this chapter’s narrative.
Śukadeva Gosvāmī is narrating to King Parīkṣit; the verse reports Kṛṣṇa’s statement and His entering Mithilā.
Even the Supreme Lord honors loving relationships and saintly/virtuous association—devotees can apply this by seeking uplifting company and maintaining affectionate, dharmic bonds.
