Kṛṣṇa Leads Kālayavana to Mucukunda; The Yavana Is Burned; Mucukunda’s Prayers and Boon of Bhakti
so ’haṁ tavānugrahārthaṁ guhām etām upāgataḥ prārthitaḥ pracuraṁ pūrvaṁ tvayāhaṁ bhakta-vatsalaḥ
It is apparent from this verse that Mucukunda was a devotee of the Supreme Lord. He had prayed for the Lord’s association, and now Śrī Kṛṣṇa granted his fervent request.
This verse shows that mercy is received through heartfelt prayer and surrender—approaching Krishna with the sole aim of His grace, trusting Him as Bhakta-vatsala, the protector and well-wisher of devotees.
After encountering Krishna in the cave, Mucukunda recognizes the Lord and reveals that his arrival was not accidental—he had long prayed to meet the Lord and receive His mercy, and now that prayer is being fulfilled.
Make your spiritual practice purpose-centered: pray consistently for devotion and divine guidance, and approach God not merely for temporary gains but for inner transformation through His mercy.
