इत्य् आगेनेये महापुराणे यजुर्विधानं नामोनषष्ट्यधिकद्विशततमो ऽध्यायः अथ षष्ठ्यधिकद्विशततमो ऽध्यायः सामविधानं पुष्कर उवाच युजुर्विधानङ्कथितं वक्ष्ये साम्नां विधानकं संहितां वैष्णवीञ्जप्त्वा हुत्वा स्यात् सर्वकामभाक् शान्तातीयं गणं हुत्वा शान्तिमाप्नोति मानवः

ity āgeneye mahāpurāṇe yajurvidhānaṃ nāmonaṣaṣṭyadhikadviśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ atha ṣaṣṭhyadhikadviśatatamo 'dhyāyaḥ sāmavidhānaṃ puṣkara uvāca yujurvidhānaṅkathitaṃ vakṣye sāmnāṃ vidhānakaṃ saṃhitāṃ vaiṣṇavīñjaptvā hutvā syāt sarvakāmabhāk śāntātīyaṃ gaṇaṃ hutvā śāntimāpnoti mānavaḥ

ดังนี้ในอัคนิเยมหาปุราณะ บทชื่อ “ยชุรวิธานะ” (บทที่ ๒๕๙) ได้จบลงแล้ว บัดนี้เริ่มบทที่ ๒๖๐ คือ “สามวิธานะ” ปุษกรกล่าวว่า “พิธีวิธีแห่งยชุรเวทได้กล่าวแล้ว บัดนี้เราจักกล่าวพิธีวิธีแห่งบทสรรเสริญสามัน เมื่อสวดไวษณวีสังหิตาและบูชาไฟด้วยอาหุติ ย่อมสำเร็จความปรารถนาทั้งปวง เมื่อถวายอาหุติแด่ศานตาตียคณะ มนุษย์ย่อมได้ความสงบ”
