FAQs

It sets up a technical classification of reality into groups (25, 8, 5, 3) and announces their mapping to presiding deities (adhidevatas) such as Indra, which is foundational for cosmological and deity-correspondence teachings.

By organizing metaphysical principles numerically and linking them to divine administrators, it demonstrates the Purana’s compendium style—systematizing philosophy, theology, and cosmology in a structured, reference-like format.

Understanding tattvas and their presiding deities is traditionally held to refine discernment (viveka) and support correct devotional orientation, aligning one’s practice with the ordered structure of the cosmos.
