It prescribes direction-specific worship: in the north-east one propitiates Īśāna using the Īśa-mantra, and it specifies concrete offerings such as caru mixed with ghee for the eastern assignment, along with fragrance-type offerings in a designated (ninth) placement.
It exemplifies the Agni Purāṇa’s practical ritual manual character by codifying mantra-application, spatial (directional) sequencing, and the material taxonomy of offerings—details that sit alongside its many other subjects (polity, medicine, poetics), showing its breadth as a compendium.
Following the prescribed mantra and direction-based offerings is presented as a means of pleasing Īśāna and harmonizing the ritual space, thereby securing auspiciousness and the merit (puṇya) associated with correctly performed worship.
