Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Tantra","secondary_vidya":"Mantra","practical_application":"Śiva-arcana in kumbha and vardhanī using praṇava (Oṁ), invoking Śiva with associated aspects (sāṅga) and specified vāhana/āsana imagery for kalasha worship.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"Procedure","entry_title":"Praṇava-based Kumbha & Vardhanī Śiva-arcana (Sāṅga)","lookup_keywords":["pranava","shiva-archana","vrisharudha","kumbha-puja","vardhani"],"quick_summary":"Worship Śiva with Oṁ, visualizing Him as bull-mounted (and lion-seated per the rite’s dhyāna), and perform sāṅga worship in both the kumbha and the vardhanī vessel."}

Concept: Praṇava as universal seed for invoking īśvara; deity is installed and honored through symbol (kumbha) and ordered upacāras (sāṅga).

Application: In kalasha-puja, begin with Oṁ, hold a stable dhyāna of Śiva’s form, and perform systematic aṅga-worship to complete the invocation.

Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi (Shiva-archaṇa / Linga- & Kalasha-puja procedures)

Primary Rasa: Shanta

Secondary Rasa: Adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A priest performs Śiva worship with Oṁ before a kumbha and a vardhanī vessel; Śiva is visualized as vṛṣārūḍha and also enthroned on a lion-seat, with sāṅga offerings arranged.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural, Śiva’s invoked presence above a kalasha, bull vāhana nearby, lion-throne motif, priest offering flowers and water, glowing praṇava symbol, temple interior palette","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore painting, gold leaf on Śiva’s aura and on the kalasha, bull and lion-seat iconographic hints, priest in worship posture, rich ornaments and lamps","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting, instructional layout: kumbha and vardhanī clearly shown, sequence of sāṅga upacāras arranged, Śiva dhyāna-form sketched above with bull and lion-seat attributes","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature, refined ritual scene with vessels, priest chanting Oṁ, subtle apparition of Śiva with bull, ornate textiles, detailed metalwork of kumbha and tray"}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"devotional","suggested_raga":"Bhairav","pace":"slow","voice_tone":"devotional"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: वर्धनीन्ततः = वर्धनीम् + ततः; शिवन्देवं = शिवम् + देवम्; वर्धन्यामर्चयेत् = वर्धन्याम् + अर्चयेत्.

FAQs

It gives a precise arcana instruction: invoke Śiva with the Praṇava (Oṁ) and worship Him in the kumbha (consecrated pot) and in the inner/auxiliary vessel called vardhanī, including the associated aṅgas (ancillary aspects used in nyāsa/attendant worship).

Beyond mythic narration, it preserves practical liturgical technology—specific vessels (kumbha, vardhanī), iconographic cues (bull-mount, lion-seat), and mantra-usage (Praṇava)—showing the Agni Purana as a handbook of temple and domestic ritual procedure.

Worship through correctly established mantra (Praṇava) and properly consecrated supports (kumbha/vardhanī) is presented as a purity-producing act that stabilizes devotion and aligns the rite with Śiva’s presence, thereby increasing ritual efficacy and religious merit.
