Related Themes: Agni Purana 78 (Śiva-arcana, liṅga/kalasha procedures, praṇava usage)
It gives a precise arcana instruction: invoke Śiva with the Praṇava (Oṁ) and worship Him in the kumbha (consecrated pot) and in the inner/auxiliary vessel called vardhanī, including the associated aṅgas (ancillary aspects used in nyāsa/attendant worship).
Beyond mythic narration, it preserves practical liturgical technology—specific vessels (kumbha, vardhanī), iconographic cues (bull-mount, lion-seat), and mantra-usage (Praṇava)—showing the Agni Purana as a handbook of temple and domestic ritual procedure.
Worship through correctly established mantra (Praṇava) and properly consecrated supports (kumbha/vardhanī) is presented as a purity-producing act that stabilizes devotion and aligns the rite with Śiva’s presence, thereby increasing ritual efficacy and religious merit.
