Related Themes: Agni Purana 72 (Śauca & ācamana contexts)
It lists common situations (sleeping, eating, drinking milk, evacuation, and certain contacts) that require ritual purification—typically ācamanā and related shaucha practices—before sacred acts like japa, pūjā, or study.
Beyond mythology, it preserves practical dharma-śāstra style guidance on daily cleanliness and ritual eligibility, showing the Agni Purāṇa’s coverage of household conduct, purity codes, and applied religious procedure.
Maintaining shaucha is treated as a prerequisite for mantra, worship, and scriptural study; purification after these acts is meant to restore ritual fitness and prevent the accrual of दोष (ritual fault) in sacred observances.
