Vidya Category: {"primary_vidya":"Mantra","secondary_vidya":"Tantra","practical_application":"Recitation and deployment of śakti-mantras (power-bījas) oriented to mind-withdrawal and universal/all-self contemplation; used in śakti-nyāsa and mantra-anga empowerment.","sutra_style":true}

Encyclopedic Reference: {"reference_type":"List","entry_title":"Five Śakti-Mantras (Pañca-Śakti) with Vāṃ/Vaṃ Formulas","lookup_keywords":["pancha shakti","vam bija","manonivritti","vishvatman","sarvatman"],"quick_summary":"Gives śakti-mantra salutations: vāṃ for manonivṛtti-ātman and viśvātman, and vaṃ for sarvātman; presented as part of a declared set of five śaktis for ritual empowerment."}

Concept: Manonivṛtti (cessation/withdrawal of mental fluctuation) as a śakti-state; expansion from individual self-sense to viśvātman/sarvātman through mantra-salutation.

Application: Use the vāṃ/vaṃ salutations as a structured contemplation: first quiet the mind (manonivṛtti), then affirm universality (viśvātman), then all-pervasion (sarvātman) during nyāsa/japa.

Khanda Section: Puja-vidhi / Mantra-vidhi (Tantric-Bija and Shakti-nyasa orientation)

Primary Rasa: shanta

Secondary Rasa: adbhuta

Visual Art Cues: {"scene_description":"A practitioner reciting ‘oṃ vāṃ…’ and ‘oṃ vaṃ…’ with five śakti symbols arranged around; the mind depicted as settling waves, transitioning into a vast cosmic field labeled viśva/sarva.","kerala_mural_prompt":"Kerala mural; five śakti emblems in a circular arrangement; central sādhaka chanting; stylized mind-waves calming into a serene blue field; bold script ‘VĀṂ’ and ‘VAṂ’.","tanjore_prompt":"Tanjore gold; five śakti icons embossed; mantra syllables ‘VĀṂ’ ‘VAṂ’ in gold panels; central figure in japa-mudrā; background transitioning from turbulent to calm with gold highlights.","mysore_prompt":"Mysore painting; instructional layout: five śakti nodes labeled; text ribbons with the mantras; visual metaphor of mind-withdrawal (waves flattening) and universality (expanding aura).","mughal_miniature_prompt":"Mughal miniature; refined calligraphy of the mantras; a yogi in quiet meditation; five medallions representing śaktis; subtle gradient sky suggesting expansion to viśva/sarva."}

Audio Atmosphere: {"recitation_mood":"contemplative","suggested_raga":"Kedar","pace":"medium","voice_tone":"instructional"}

Sandhi Resolution Notes: Sandhi resolved: ity uktāḥ → इति + उक्ताः. The sequence ‘nāñca’ in the source is treated as ‘न + च’ (negation + conjunction) as transmitted; if intended as ‘नां च’ (of us/they) it would differ, but manuscript reading suggests particle usage within mantra context.

FAQs

It gives a mantra-vidhi formula using bīja-syllables (vāṃ, vaṃ) to salute specific Ātman-aspects (mind-withdrawal, universal/all-self), framed as part of the “five Śaktis” used in ritual recitation/nyāsa.

Alongside narrative and dharma topics, the Agni Purana preserves practical liturgical technology—seed-syllables, śakti-mantras, and meditative identifications—typical of puja manuals and tantric-ritual compendia.

By saluting the Self as mind-stillness and as the universal/all-pervading reality, the practitioner cultivates inner purification and non-dual contemplation, supporting concentration and merit through correct mantra-japa.
